README

pi-lite-footer

中文文档 | English

npm version license pi extension

A lightweight segmented status bar for the Pi coding agent — git status, model info, token stats, and more, in a single line.

pi install npm:pi-lite-footer

Features

  • Segmented status bar — clean, minimal status display with 10 separator styles
  • Git integration — branch name, staged / unstaged / untracked file counts
  • 12 built-in segments — model, thinking, path, git, context usage, token I/O, cache stats, and extension statuses
  • Nerd Font support — auto-detects your terminal and falls back to ASCII glyphs
  • Responsive layout — hides segments that don't fit instead of wrapping
  • Configurable bottom bar — optionally display selected segments below the input area

Installation

pi install npm:pi-lite-footer

Quick Start

Once installed, the footer activates automatically. Toggle it inside Pi:

/lite-footer        # Enable
/lite-footer off    # Disable

Configuration

All settings live in ~/.pi/agent/settings.json under the liteFooter key. No runtime commands needed — edit the file and restart Pi.

// ~/.pi/agent/settings.json
{
  "liteFooter": {
    // Enable/disable (default: true)
    "enabled": true,

    // Segments shown above the editor (default below)
    "topBar": ["model", "thinking", "path", "git", "context_pct"],

    // Segments shown below the input area (default: extension statuses)
    "bottomBar": ["extension_statuses"],

    // Separator style: arrow | arrow-thin | slash | pipe | block | none | ascii | dot | chevron | star
    "separator": "pipe",

    // Override icons (optional, uses Nerd Font glyphs by default)
    "icons": {
      "model": "🤖",
      "folder": "📁",
      "branch": "🔀"
    }
  }
}

Example: token stats in the bottom bar

{
  "liteFooter": {
    "topBar": ["model", "thinking", "path", "git", "context_pct"],
    "bottomBar": ["token_in", "token_out", "cache_hit"],

  }
