README
@pzzld/pi-shepherd
Pi content carrier: 22 native skills, nine prompt templates, nine role references, and the handoff template. /shepherd [arguments] explicitly loads orientation and routes actionable intent to /skill:spawn, preserving arguments. /skill:start is a deprecated compatibility redirect.
Pi discovers skills and prompts through the package.json pi key. Prompt frontmatter does not load skills. Prompts select the actual absolute available_skills locations, verify the Shepherd package identity, and resolve roles/resources from that package root; the project working directory is not a package origin. Seven agent definitions remain optional resources for a separately installed compatible dispatch extension; Pi does not natively register them through pi.subagents. Verify the extension's actual discovery, tools, persistent lifecycle, and communication before using Conductor lanes. No extension, broker, or team runtime is bundled or starts at session initialization. Missing dispatch is a capability limitation, not proof of a command collision.
Primary host references: prompt templates, packages. Live installed-host acceptance remains separate from carrier tests.
/skill:herd loads Shepherd's root profile; /skill:planting loads Planter's. /skill:workflow composes or resumes the lifecycle and /skill:spawn forwards a full run. These profiles stay in the current root session. The /shepherd prompt explicitly loads the generic shepherd information skill even though its root role reference points to herd.
Run bash scripts/gate.sh full from the source checkout to verify a fresh packed installation.
