Restart Pi after installation. Use kendex update-pi --check to preview the installation.
How it works
The agent sends tasks to the tasks_write tool. The extension saves the list with the session and displays it above the editor. Tool calls or your edits update task status and notes. Resuming the session restores the saved list. A list over 64 KiB is saved in a file beside the session rather than in it. The newest such lists are kept up to 32 MiB per session, so moving to an older point with /tree restores the list from that point. Where that file is gone, as in a fork or past the 32 MiB, the panel shows the last list the session holds and warns.
Disk use
The saved lists sit in kendex/sessions/<session>/pi-task-panel/ under the Pi user directory. When a Pi session starts, the extension deletes the files of every session whose working directory is gone, and deletes any of these files older than 5 days. Resuming a session marks its own files as new, so a session resumed after 5 days keeps them. Files saved by version 3.0.5 or earlier follow the 5-day rule from the first session start after the update.
Memory use
The visible panel keeps one rendered layout of at most 65,536 characters. It keeps sorted order for lists of at most 256 tasks. Larger lists sort when layout changes. A task change replaces these caches. Session shutdown removes the widget.
Setup
The settings editor writes project values to .pi/settings.json. The default user file is ~/.pi/agent/settings.json. PI_CODING_AGENT_DIR changes the user directory. Package values are stored under kendex.extensionManager.config["@vanillagreen/pi-task-panel"].
Open /extensions:settings; settings appear under the Task Panel tab. Project settings in .pi/settings.json apply only after Pi marks the workspace trusted.
