README

🖼️ pi-localterm-kitty-images

⚠️ Archived — superseded by localterm's built-in pi extension

This extension has moved

The Kitty graphics + OSC 8 hyperlink capability force-enabling that lived here is now part of localterm itself, shipped as the built-in pi extension @monotykamary/pi-localterm (packages/pi-extension).

The exact logic from this repo — detect LOCALTERM=1, skip when images are already enabled, then setCapabilities({ images: "kitty", hyperlinks: true }) — now lives in packages/pi-extension/extensions/kitty-images.ts, bundled alongside a secret-scrub feature for the agent's bash tool.

This standalone repo is no longer maintained; use localterm's built-in extension instead.

Install the built-in extension

From npm:

pi install npm:@monotykamary/pi-localterm

From source (the localterm monorepo):

git clone https://github.com/monotykamary/localterm
pi -e ./localterm/packages/pi-extension

The extension auto-activates only inside localterm (LOCALTERM=1); outside localterm it registers nothing and pi behaves exactly as default. See the extension's README for full details.

Pi 1.0 compatibility (1.0.5)

Compatibility maintenance for existing standalone installs; the replacement recommendation above still applies. The localterm capability override is TUI-only, respects explicit settings/environment choices and multiplexer safety, and restores only capabilities it still owns on shutdown.

Tested with Pi 1.3.0. Host-provided Pi packages are wildcard peers, not bundled dependencies; development uses exact 1.3.0 versions. bun run test:pi checks the actual modular and bundled CLI host capability objects and cleanup, without opening a TUI.
