README
pi-thinking-messaging
Adds a timer and an estimated token count to Pi's Working… line.
Working… (7m 7s · ↓ 30.0k tokens)
Install
pi install npm:pi-thinking-messaging
Run /reload if Pi is already open. There is nothing to configure.
How it works
Pi keeps its usual animation and switches to Thinking… while the model thinks. The separate thinking text is hidden.
The timer and token count start fresh each run. The count adds up your prompt and the model's output. The arrow shows the current direction: ↑ for a request, ↓ for a response.
After 1, 3, and 5 minutes without token activity, the line shows increasingly noticeable idle warnings. A tool may still be running, so an idle warning does not mean Pi is stuck.
The count is approximate. It leaves out system prompts, tool definitions, and cached context, so don't use it to calculate your bill.
