README
pi-todoist-reader
A pi extension that gives the agent access to your Todoist bugs and tasks, so it can read them and close the ones you have finished.
What it provides
One tool, todoist_read:
| action | what it does |
|---|---|
projects |
list your projects |
list |
open tasks, optionally scoped to a project |
filter |
run a Todoist filter query (e.g. "#Backlog & @bug") |
get |
a single task by id, including its description |
close |
mark one or more tasks as done (id or ids) |
Plus a convenience command: /bugs [project] [limit].
close is the only write action. The extension cannot create, edit or delete
tasks — closing is reversible by hand in Todoist, and that is deliberate.
Install
pi install npm:pi-todoist-reader
Auth
The extension reads your personal Todoist API token from the TODOIST_TOKEN
environment variable:
export TODOIST_TOKEN=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Add it to your shell profile (~/.bashrc, ~/.zshrc) so pi inherits it, then
restart pi.
Get a token from Todoist → Settings → Integrations → Developer.
The token is read from the environment at call time and is never written to
disk, logged, or sent anywhere except api.todoist.com.
Usage examples
Ask the agent things like:
- "read the bugs in the Sboogle app project"
- "close the bugs I just fixed"
- "what's due today in my Backlog?"
